New Brunswick Physiotherapy Association

The NBPA is the voluntary provincial professional association which unites members to better represent us. It acts as a resource to NB Physiotherapists to share information regarding the profession. In addition our association promotes the growth and development of our profession by fostering excellence in education, practice and research. we provide leadership and direction to PTs and for the practice of Physiotherapy; as well we advance high standards of health care in New Brunswick.

Some of the Annual Awards Available to NBPA Members:

Education Bursary Awards

a) 2 Short Term  

    Bursaries (Spring and Fall)

Applicant must be a NBPA member

and  complete the bursary application form and return it to the Awards chairperson before the indicated deadline;

Professional Leadership Award


The Award consists of a professional leadership recognition award certificate, a name engraved plaque (to be housed by the recipient for one year) and a $100.00 book prize.



The nominee must have  

influenced the profession in one

or more of the following areas:

a)      clinical practice

b)      education

c)      management

d)     professional activities (provincial and/or national)



The nominee must be regarded as a leader amongst their peers and must have demonstrated

high levels of achievement within the profession (i.e.

community/professional

 involvement, career, education, etc…)

.

The nominee must be a

 physiotherapist and must be an NBPA member. Deadline March 15.

Young Leadership Award


The award consists of $100 cash prize, a plaque and a certificate.

The nominee must have been involved with issues of the physiotherapy profession (public or professional) within the first two years of practicing physiotherapy within the province. The member must have graduated from a physiotherapy program no longer than 5 years from the date of the nomination for the award.  The nominee must be a NBPA member. The nominee must be regarded as a leader amongst their peers and have helped to promote, develop and/or stimulate physiotherapy issues in their local area or throughout the province. Continuing education that promotes and develops clinical skills may also be a component of this award.

 Deadline is March 15.

Student Professional Leadership Award


$50 Book Prize and   Professional Recognition Certificate


1)  The recipient must be a graduating student who is a New Brunswick resident.


2)  The recipient must have demonstrated exceptional professional behaviors and attitudes within the academic and clinical setting.

    

3) Accepts responsibility for  own actions and accepts criticism without defensives.

    
4) Demonstrates initiative and

contributes to positive work environment

    

5) Adapts to change and

manages conflict in

        constructive ways.

    


6) Demonstrates productive working relationships with patients, families, Clinical Instructors, other health professionals, peers and faculty.


7) The recipient will preferably be a student member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association



Deadline: determined by Universities

                 National Physiotherapy

Public Relations Initiative (NPM)

The Award consists of $100.00 to the winning submission along with the honor of having the recipient’s name engraved on a plaque. The plaque is to be kept by the recipient for one year and is to be returned to the Awards chairperson prior to the following National Physiotherapy Month competition.



 1. Hold a public activity\event promoting Physiotherapy. The activity is to be conducted during the identified NPM period.


2. Submit a summary of the type of initiative, the length and a brief description of the initiative; number of participants (both professional and public); and how the event was publicized. Information must be submitted with in 3 weeks of the end of the identified NPM period. Pictures and other evidence of media coverage are welcome.

3. The activity\initiative must be executed in a professional manner.


4. One or more activities\initiatives can be submitted for the competition.

5. All submissions must include: a contact name and contact information. In the event of a group submission, please indicate the name of the group as you would like it to appear on the plaque.

AGM Participation Award

The NBPA portion of the CPA annual membership fees will be paid for the following year.

The recipient must be present for the AGM. To actually receive the award, the recipient must be a member of the New Brunswick Physiotherapy Association.

Monique Breau Congress Award

Full registration to Annual CPA Congress, transportation, accommodation and meals as per NBPA policy III-30-01.



Recipient must be a current NBPA member in good standing; recipient must have been actively involved in professional activities of the NBPA for at least two (2) years; the award may only be presented to an individual member once. *(The current NBPA president and president-elect are not eligible for this award.)

         Nominations must be made by members.



Nominations shall be written and include pertinent biographical information concerning the candidate(s).

Accompanying  documentation may be via a letter; an extract from minutes,…etc. indicating support. Nominations must be received by the chair of the awards committee on or before

March 1.

World Congress Award
Financial assistance to NBPA members to attend the World Congress event held every 4 years. The award may be used towards registration, transportation, accommodations and meals as per NBPA policy III-30-01. The amount of the award will be financed by profits made by the Educational Committee

Recipient must be a current NBPA member in good standing; recipient must have been actively involved in professional activities of the NBPA for the last two (2) years.

Ÿ  Nominations must be made by members.

Ÿ  Nominations shall be written and include pertinent biographical information concerning the candidate.. Accompanying documentation may be via a letter; an extract from minutes, etc. indicating support.

Ÿ  Nominations must be received by the chair of the awards committee on or before May 1 preceding the World Congress.
